    Event Details: The primary objective of the Groom & Clean Contest is to provide an opportunity for youth enrolled in a 4-H horse project to demonstrate their knowledge of horses and equine related subject matter (written test), grooming and team work skills (grooming phase) and their showmanship skills (showing phase) in a competitive yet friendly and relaxed setting.

    THROUGHOUT ITS HISTORY, OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY’S FARM SCIENCE REVIEW HAS BEEN AT THE FOREFRONT OF SHOWCASING THE FUTURE OF AGRICULTURE. The Molly Caren Agricultural Center (MCAC) near London, Ohio is home to the Farm Science Review and attracts upwards of 140,000 visitors from all over the United States and Canada, who come for three days to peruse 4,000 product lines from 600 commercial exhibitors, and learn the latest in agricultural production. The educational programs feature Ohio State and Purdue specialists and are second to none in the agricultural exhibition world.

    Junior Trail Ride participants must be 10-13 years old (4-H age) or may be 14-18 yrs. if it is the first time they have participated in the ride. Those riders 14 years old or older must advance to the senior ride after riding the junior ride one time. Senior Trail participants must be at least 14 years old (4-H age) as of January 1 of year of participation. Shadow riders are allowed for ten and eleven year olds or for youth with disabilities on the junior ride. The junior riders ride one half of the senior ride. All other senior rules apply to the junior ride.

    The Ohio 4-H Teen Leadership Council (TLC) is a statewide group of 4-H teens and young 4-H alumni that provides a youth stakeholder perspective in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of Ohio 4-H programming. In this process, council members develop knowledge, skills, attitudes, and aspirations needed for future success.  Council members share advice and recommendations to 4-H professionals in order to improve, strengthen, and expand the Ohio 4-H program.  Members also make recommendations regarding opportunities for Ohio 4-H teen programming.
