  2. 4-H Volunteers Travel the Globe to Visit Their “Kids”

    Ask most parents how many children they have and you’ll get a fairly prompt reply. Ask Barb & George Wyndham of Kenton, Ohio and they may start counting on their fingers. “We have three biological daughters; that part is easy,” muses George. As for the many exchange students they have hosted from around the world who have become part of their family? “That will take some time to figure,” laughs Barb. The actual total is over 50, and their counting and parenting skills were utilized fully this past summer when they traveled to Japan to visit 15 of “their kids.”

    FilmFest 4-H, the national 4-H film festival was held in St. Louis this past summer and two Ohio 4-H filmmakers were recognized with awards. Emmy Beck-Aden from Athens County received first place honors in the “Voices of 4-H History” category for “Generations Coming Together,” her film about 4-H in Athens County.

    A new Ohio 4-H initiative is connecting youth with an OSU Extension Signature program. Adding a Youth Flavor to Extension’s Signature Programs leverages peer education to increase awareness and interest in local foods among Ohio youth through 4-H teen leaders.

  6. Cunningham Named to National 4-H Hall of Fame

    COLUMBUS, Ohio — A central Ohioan and long-time 4-H volunteer will be inducted into the 2015 National 4-H Hall of Fame. Clarence Cunningham of Hilliard, Ohio, will be honored at an enshrinement ceremony planned for Oct. 9 at the National 4-H Center in Chevy Chase, Maryland.

  7. Do You Need to Complete QA?

    Youth Beef Quality Assurance training will once again be offered in conjunction with the Ohio Beef Expo. Concurrent sessions will be held on Saturday, for youth 13 and under and youth 14 and over at 1:00 p.m. in Rauch Arena.  All participants will receive documentation of attendance and a copy of the document will be sent to the participant's county. Some counties may require additional certification.

  8. Agriculture Scholarship Program

    Do you know Ohio 4H members who are graduating this year? Let them know about the Agriculture Scholarship program. The Ohio Benevolent and Protective Association has set aside 33 college scholarships, of $1,000 each, just for Ohio 4H members!

  9. Two Warren County Teens Take 2nd at the 2014 Film Fest 4-H

    Ohio 4-H members Eric Glaze and Ben Sanders took second place honors in August at the 2014 FilmFest 4-H, the National 4-H Film Festival held in St. Louis.

    Eric (left) and Ben (right), members of the Pathfinders 4-H Club in Warren County, entered their short film “A Centennial of Extension with Dr. D. Howard Doster.” Dr. Doster, a retired OSU Extension agent, who is also Eric’s grandfather, shared his experiences with Extension from his childhood through his career.

  10. Cloverbud Camp at the Ohio State Fair

    The 4-H Cloverbud Day Camp at the Ohio State Fair was an enjoyable/educational event just for Cloverbuds at the state fair. Objectives for this year's camp is STEM-centered in that 4-H Cloverbuds will understand sounds and how they travel and are heard through vibrations.
