Local
4-H Teen Opportunities
The entry point for teens to become involved
in all 4-H opportunities is through local
4-H Clubs, 4-H Special Emphasis Programs,
or 4-H School Programs. Through these local
4-H programs, teens have the opportunity
to participate in:
. 4-H projects designed especially for and
with teens,
. Local 4-H teen leadership experiences,
. 4-H community service and citizenship
experiences, and
. 4-H workforce preparation and career education.

Ohio 4-H offers many different intermediate
and advanced 4-H projects designed especially
for teens, as well as a Self-Determined
4-H project for teens who wish to pursue
other areas of interest. Examples of project
areas in which many teens are interested

Workforce
Preparation Opportunities
Workforce preparation experiences are being
added (along with leadership and citizenship
experiences) to every member project guide
as new projects are developed and current
ones are revised. In addition, teens who
are interested in becoming better prepared
for the 21st century workforce can participate
in the Teen Leadership On The Job project
and the Getting Down To Business 4-H entrepreneurship
program.

Ohio 4-H Teen Leadership Team
Leadership is an important learned life skill
which is directly related to success in adulthood,
and teen leadership development has been identified
by key advisory groups as one of Ohio 4-H’’s
most important program priorities. The Ohio 4-H
Teen Leadership Priority Team is working to improve
the effectiveness and efficiency of Ohio 4-H in
preparing youth with the leadership skills and
abilities they need to become self-directing,
productive, and contributing members of society.
