YST (Youth Study Tour) Travel

Ohio 4-H Youth Study Tours provide participants with exposure to another country's life and culture, including the environment, arts, family life, major sites, architecture, nature, history, food, animals and customs.  Led by Extension professionals and volunteers, the Youth Study Tours combine educational touring with a homestay.   Pre-trip orientations and cultural reading materials assure that participants have a solid knowledge basis for what they will see and experience, creating the ultimate in "learning by doing."

Youth Study Tour groups usually travel on even numbered years in June and July.  Destinations are announced in the International Programs Booklet, published each January. Costs range from $2,500 to $3,500, depending upon the destination.

Both 4-H members and non-members ages 13-21 are invited to participate; exceptions may be made for younger or older applicants.  Participants are selected based their application, references, essay and personal/group interview.  Mandatory interviews are held in Columbus in Februrary and March of the travel year.  All youth selected for the Study Tour must attend an Orientation in Columbus; at least one parent must also attend.

Please check upcoming 4-H international newsletters and other materials for more information on this program.
