INTERVIEW CHECKLIST
At the beginning of
the year:
Ø Select a project that will allow you to learn something new about a topic that interests you.
Ø Check with your Advisor about the project requirements for the interview and fair exhibit.
Ø Begin working on activities in your project book.
One month before the
interview:
Ø Review project requirements.
Ø Plan your exhibit.
Ø List the materials and information you will need to complete your exhibit.
One week before the
interviews:
Ø Practice what you want to say during your interview — you will have 5-10 minutes with the judge.
Ø Put finishing touches on your exhibit — neatness counts!
Ø Check your project book — Have you completed the required sections?
The night before the
interviews:
Ø Review your project book to make sure you remember the important facts.
Ø Gather together everything for your exhibit — put it in a box or bag for transporting.
Ø Eat a good meal before the interview so that you don’t run out of steam.
Ø Have a neat, clean appearance.
Ø Check your exhibit one final time to make sure you haven’t forgotten anything.
Ø Quickly review the important points in your project book.
Ø Be on time!
During the
interview:
Ø Relax, smile and speak loudly and clearly.
Ø Answer questions completely and accurately, but don’t “ramble on” with your answers.
Ø Be polite — thank the judge after you’re done.
After
the interview:
Ø Think about how things went — what did you do well? — In what areas could you improve?
Ø Look up the answers to questions that you found challenging.
Ø Identify 2 or 3 things that you learned through the interview.
