4-H Ambassadors

Ohio 4-H Ambassadors are the youth spokespersons for Ohio 4-H. Each year outstanding 4-H teens who demonstrate excellence in 4-H achievement, citizenship, and leadership earn invitations to become Ohio 4-H Ambassadors.

Being a 4-H Ambassador is both an honor and a responsibility. Ambassadors serve as speakers, emcees, program facilitators, hosts or hostesses, committee members, and in many other youth leadership roles for 4-H and Extension programs and events throughout the state.  Ohio 4-H Ambassadors are also tremendous role models who maintain the highest standards of excellence as they fulfill their 4-H pledge commitments of clear thinking, great loyalty, large service, and better living to make the best better in their clubs, communities, country, and world.

The Ohio 4-H Ambassador program is sponsored by the Ohio 4-H Foundation.  Their support for the program is very much appreciated and enables Ambassdors to fulfill their responsibilites and objectives with excellence.

To Become a State 4-H Ambassador

Completing the Ohio 4-H Ambassador program application is easy AS 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6!

ONE - Open the Ambassador Program DetailsRead this document prior to completing the application.  By completing and signing the application you agree to meet all of the expectations including the required meetings listed in this document!

TWO - Open the application document below.  This is a fill-in-the blank PDF form.  All of the text boxes that are highlighted must be filled out (including cell phone and email; if you do not have a cell phone then re-enter your home phone or another alternate phone number). You cannot save this form so you will have to complete then print out! No handwritten forms/applications will be accepted with the exception of signatures and reference forms!

THREE - Once you have filled out the required information, print the application out.  This will serve as your base application.  It will include your background information as well as two recommendation forms that you will need to have completed (One by a 4-H professional and the other by another mentor).

FOUR - Answer Questions? The 4 questions that are in the PDF will need to be answered in order to be considered for Ambassador status and are attached in a word file in the link below.  Complete those questions in that file or another word processing program (working of the application questions). Be sure to follow the question guidelines. These questions have word count restrictions please do not go over those word counts.  If working in MS Word highlight what you have written and click on Tools then in that drop box click on Word Count it will tell you the number of words that you have written.  Other word processing programs have similar features.  Save your work after you have completed.  Sometimes taking a breather from writing on an application or other document and returning to it for modification or changes will make the document stronger.  If you save your work you have that option.

FIVE Once you have completed the fill-in-the-blank application, including your references, and answered the questions in the word processing program it is time to compile the application and solicit the signatures from your parent/guardian(s), leader/advisor and your county 4-H professional.

SIX - Once those are complete your application is ready for submission! Remember that you should check to see when all materials are to be into your county extension office.  There will be no late applications accepted at the State Office after February 6th.  The County deadline will be before that date. Good Luck!
