Staff News & Notes - Week of 02.09.09

Hi,

Enjoy this week's News & Notes

Thanks again for all that you do for the youth of Ohio.

How to utilize WebEx

Jim Elder has scheduled two sessions on how to utilize WebEx. The first session is scheduled for Thursday, February 12 at 10:00AM and the second session will be a repeat of the first session at 2:00PM that same day. Both sessions will run about one hour. WebEx Conferencing is a combination toll-free telephone conference enhanced by synchronized viewing of documents and applications through your own computer.  You need access to a telephone and a broadband (high speed) internet connection. To attend either session click on the following link and go to upcoming workshops:  http://www.ohio4h.org/blueribbon/

WebEx allows you to share documents, make presentations, and collaborate with people across town and around the world. WebEx conferencing lets you use the power of the Internet to hold meetings without leaving your office. You can view, annotate, or edit documents in real time. Work out the budget, collaborate on presentation material, and communicate without the hassle or expense of traveling.

Scheduling and Hosting your next WebEx meeting

4-H Professionals can schedule a WebEx meeting by contacting Lisa Jinks, jinks.2@osu.edu or Tom Archer, archer.3@cfaes.osu.edu .

New Officer Book DRAFTS Available Online

Thanks to members of the Officer Book Action Team for revising four more officer books! Team members include Barbara Carder, Kara Colvin, Janice Hanna, Teresa Johnson, Ken LaFontaine, Bonnie Malone, Joy Sharp, Jill Stechschulte, Travis West and Bruce Zimmer. Look for updated versions of the Vice President’s Handbook, the Health Officer Record Book, the Recreation Leader Record Book, and the Safety Officer Record Book. The team also created online resources that will be offered as downloadable resources.

As a way of introducing the books and getting feedback on the new resource page, the books are available on this behind-the-scenes website: www.ohio4h.org/members/officers. More description of the titles and new officer training materials for educators and volunteers will be added soon. Because we are already well into this program year, county educators can decide for themselves whether to use the new array of books and forms or to use the versions posted on the www.ohio4h.org site. (The new page is not yet accessible from the Ohio 4-H website, but you are welcome to share the url with your clubs and club leaders.)

If you do decide to use the new books, the action team would like to have your feedback so that the books and site can be modified in time for the 2010 program year. Please send questions or comments to Travis West at west.222@osu.edu
