Staff News & Notes - Week of 3.31.2008
Dear Colleagues:
On April 4th, we will celebrate the ribbon cutting and grand opening of the Nationwide & Ohio Farm Bureau 4-H Center! As you all know, this facility was in the planning and development stages for many years and its completion has provided many great opportunities to highlight the 4-H program. The facility has already been used by many groups, including the Obama 08 Campaign; CFAES Student Council dinner; Turner Construction Company business meeting; 4-H PetPals Training; Franklin County 4-H CarTeens; Outreach & Engagement Council; Franklin County Farm Bureau; and many more! We have exciting events planned in the coming months including the Scarlet & Gray Ag Days, the 4-H Project Mini College, a Science Adventure Camp, numerous committee meetings, and much more!
Over 3,000 individuals, clubs, groups, businesses, foundations, and organizations contributed to the campaign that made the Nationwide & Ohio Farm Bureau 4-H Center. We are tremendously grateful for the active participation from each of you and your county 4-H programs. We know that many of you went the extra mile to coordinate giving from local individuals or 4-H clubs and that many of you have personally contributed to the campaign.
For all that you have done to help realize this dream, we thank you! We are excited about what the future holds for the Ohio 4-H program and anticipate this being a significant catalyst to our growth well into the future!
Have a great week!

Your Input Wanted - Risk Management Survey

4-H Dog Expo Location Change
Ohio 4-H Dog Expo, scheduled for Saturday, April 19 on the OSU Columbus Campus, will now be held at The Buckeye Ranch Equestrian Facility, 5665 Hoover Rd., Grove City. The change in location is due to the Spring Football Game being held at Ohio Stadium that day. The Buckeye Ranch is about 15 minutes south of the OSU Campus. We have held two previous Dog Expos there, and the facilities lend themselves well to our planned activities. Information about the location change and directions are posted at: http://southcenters.osu.edu/4h/dog. Pre-registration is due to Tracy Waite, waite.29@cfaes.osu.edu, by April 7; however, youth can register the day of Dog Expo as well.
4-H SET Alumni Search
Due to the tremendous response we received from the 4-H SET alumni search, we wanted to see what great things 4-H youth members are doing today in science, engineering and/or technology projects. Their stories will be used to share the great work already going on in 4-H around science, engineering and technology through newsletters, online stories and press coverage. Please note that there is a system in place to connect with the parents and county 4-H Extension agents prior to interviewing or writing stories on the youth chosen.
Below is a 10-minute survey link to pass along throughout your states to help us find their great stories. We ask that survey responses are complete by Friday, April 11th.
