GOALS While you plan and create your own family first aid kit, you will practice treating some injuries, make some first-aid supplies, and learn the steps to take when faced with an emergency. Other goals include:
- Increased knowledge about first aid and the skills needed to be a good first aid care giver.
- Prevention techniques for many common accidents and injuries.
- Practice gathering information, problem solving, and decision-making.
LEARNER OUTCOMES
This curriculum will help you learn to do an interview and needs assessment, use first aid skills to treat cuts, scrapes, nosebleeds, and bee stings, respond to someone who is choking or has a broken bone, and assemble a First Aid Kit to fit your family recreation and lifestyle needs. You will also practice the life skills of communication, problem solving, decision-making, and organizing information.
