County 4-H endowments are permanent
accounts, funded through individual donations, business
and corporate contributions, and fundraising events.
Each county has full control over the interest income
generated by their endowment. County endowment funds
support local 4-H programs through 4-H member scholarships
and awards, educational workshops and resources,
and volunteer training and support.
Currently, 80 Ohio counties have established or
pending 4-H endowments. In 2005, $218,143 in earned
income from county endowment funds was distributed
at the county level.
The local county endowment committee members and
other 4-H volunteers raise funds though a variety
of special events, including:

Donations from private individuals, businesses,
and organizations also greatly assist efforts
to strengthen a county 4-H endowment fund. Contributions
are often given in memory or honor of a friend
or family member.
