Ways to Give

The Ohio 4-H Foundation raises money to support and enhance the Ohio 4-H Youth Development Program. Support from individuals, companies, foundations and organizations enables the Ohio 4-H Foundation to fund innovative new programs and improve existing 4-H educational opportunities throughout Ohio. Gifts of any size are welcome and may be made in several ways.

Your gift to Ohio 4-H could be doubled or even tripled if your company matches charitable gifts. To see if your employer is among the more than 1,000 matching gift companies, check with your personnel office. Complete the necessary form and return it with your gift.

Current Gifts

Cash

  • See how your gift benefits youth currently involved in 4-H.
  • Reduce the size of an estate for tax savings.

Property

  • Get an immediate income tax deduction based on the full fair market value of the land.
  • Avoid capital gains taxed on long-term appreciated property.
  • Save on estate taxes and selling expenses.

Corporate Matching

  • Your employer may make a contribution to 4-H to match your own personal gift.

Securities

  • With certain limitations, deduct the full fair market value of long-term appreciated stocks and bonds on your taxes.

Planned Gifts

Life Insurance

  • Make relatively low premium payments, yet ultimately provide a significant gift to 4-H.
  • Keep personal assets during your lifetime.
  • Save on taxes on premium payments if the policy is owned by The Ohio State University.

Will/Bequests

  • Maintain full use of assets in your lifetime.
  • Receive recognition now for a future gift.
  • If your life situation changes drastically and assets are needed, the gift is revocable. 

Memorials

  • Provide a tribute to the memory of a family member, friend or colleague.

Charitable Trusts/Annuities

  • Make significant gifts to the Ohio 4-H Foundation, but retain certain lifetime benefits.

Many large gifts (especially those  involving real estate, collectibles, trusts and bequests) involve detailed planning. The Foundation welcomes the opportunity to work with donors and their investment advisors or attorneys in such planning.


Designate Your Gift

A gift to Ohio 4-H can be designated to a specific 4-H youth development area or focus, such as:

Ohio 4-H Foundation Endowment

Income is used to enhance existing 4-H programs and fund new programs throughout the state therefore, increasing the impact(quality and quantity) of 4-H activities in Ohio. Funds are distributed on a county, district and statewide basis.

Local 4-H County Endowments

In Ohio, 68 counties have established or have pending 4-H endowments. Income from these endowments directly supports local county 4-H programs.

4-H Subject Matter

4-H projects and other programs have expanded beyond an agricultural emphasis to a very broad range of topics. The 4-H curriculum continually needs developed, evaluated, and improved to meet the rapidly changing needs of varied 4-H audiences.

4-H Camp Endowment or Improvement Funds

The Ohio 4-H camps use contributions to enhance their sites and further develop their resources and camping programs.

Volunteer Development

Youth and adult volunteers are vital to the success of 4-H. Contributions are used for recruiting, training, and recognizing volunteers.

Youth Development, Leadership, and Citizenship

4-H strives to provide educational environments where positive personal characteristics can be learned. Citizenship and leadership curriculums, leadership camping opportunities, and cultural awareness are a few important areas.
