Definitions & Key Terms
Ohio State University Extension Volunteer
Anyone who (1) contributes time, energy, or talent to O.S.U. Extension educational programs and (2) is not paid by O.S.U. Extension funds  (Ohio State University Extension, 1996).

Vulnerable Population
Individuals who are minors (age 18 and under), elderly (age 65 and over) and those with disabilities.

Fingerprint Background Check
Background check based on an individuals fingerprint impressions (either through ink and card or web based), processed by the Bureau of Criminal Investigation & Identification.

Interviews
Face-to-face interaction between an individual potential volunteer or group of potential volunteers and an Extension professional or volunteer interview committee.

Disqualifying Offenses
Those offenses listed under section 109.572 (a)(1) of the Ohio Revised Code.
