The purpose of the HERO Camps is to help Ohio's military kids to become more resilient and prepared to manage the stresses of growing up in a military family. Interacting and making friends with others who are going throught the same experience helps build confidence, leadership skills, and a sense of community. Run simultaneously to the Hero Camps, the National Guard offers a free STRONG Families Workshop to parents, featuring team building activities as well as sessions discussing topics such as financial stability, safety, and issues related to stress management. In 2014, Operation: Military Kids will offer several HERO Camps; the experience varies greatly for each of the camps, so be sure to find the camp right for you!
